So I’ve been having a bit of a no-cook summer…I’ve been traveling a lot, so haven’t been to the grocery store, AND the last thing I want to do when it’s 85 degrees out and I use minimal air conditioning is turn on the oven or stove. But, of course, that doesn’t mean I haven’t been eating!
In some ways the lack of grocery shopping has been nice; it’s forced me to dwindle down my pantry and freezer wares. Back in the days of blog #2, I even had a “pantry/freezer challenge” where I highlighted different things I made without fresh ingredients. Maybe I’ll have to bring it back as a feature here!
I just got back from my annual Maine vacation, which was awesome per usual – but this time around I was able to go up and spend a night with my cousin and his wife in their new home of Portland. In the ~18 hours I was there, we hit up about six taprooms and I tried many delightful bites and sips. Can’t wait to go back for a real visit, especially since Portland has just been named the Bon Appetit 2018 Restaurant City of the Year.
Anyway, I know I’ll be getting back into the swing of things and cooking soon…in fact, when I got back from vacation, I went to the grocery store for the first time in a LONG time and, look what I whipped up tonight!
Hope you all are having a great summer! Enjoy it while it lasts 🙂

Nicely done.

I’ve never heard of sumac tahini sauce. That looked good 🙂 I think that sometimes a ni-cook time out period makes you come back to meal planning and prep with new enthusiasm and motivation. Plus you can’t beat the fun of trying some new places out! Any new Chicago spots you can recommend?
